PORRIDGE LOVER?
Here’s a recipe for you!
Now that the weather has changed a little and its been a little nippy in the mornings, I am back on porridge for breakfast. I just find that it is so warming and satisfying, especially with my special LOWER carbohydrate recipe.
PORRIDGE PROTEIN ZOATS: Recipe below.
Are you trying to keep your carbohydrate and calorie intake down? Do you struggle to find a breakfast that is low carb/calories but is satisfying and that keeps you FULL FOR LONG?
THIS RECIPE is for YOU!
PORRIDGE PROTEIN ZOATS
INGREDIENTS:
20g oats
200g shredded courgette
Hot water
30g egg white
1 scoop protein powder
DIRECTIONS:
Put oats and courgette into a small pot and just cover with boiling water. Stir and stir on a low flame till the mixture thickens and looks green and pasty. The more you mix the nicer the consistency will be. Don’t do this on a high flame. Add the egg whites into the mix and stir for a couple minutes to thicken further.
Pour the mixture into a bowl and allow to cool a little. Add in the protein powder and mix it in.
Use any toppings you like, but remember this is where calories begin to add up, so be wise with your choice.
BENEFITS OF ZOATS over normal porridge:
– Less carbohydrates
– More fibre which aids the digestive system
– Fewer calories
– Higher protein for muscle repair and fat burning
